GE receives DOE funds for EV development

GE Global Research in Niskayuna, N.Y., will receive a grant totaling $1.3 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), according to Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y.

The money will be used to improve the efficiency of electric vehicles (EVs) and to create a fleet of smart-grid-enabled EVs for shipping and municipal maintenance. In addition, research will ensure measurement and control interfaces applicable to parking structures with geometric friendly layouts, according to Schumer.
