5MW solar power plant commissioned in Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated a 5-MW solar energy plant by SunEdison, the leading solar energy services provider, at Phalodi in Jodhpur district. Union Minister for Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah was also present. The plant was set up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
Situated over a sprawling 44 acres in the Thar desert, the plant will use thin-film PV technology to generate 8,000,000 KWh of electricity in its first year of operation. It is expected to offset carbon emissions up to 3,000 metric tonnes every year. SunEdison completed the project in just 2.5 months, keeping up its track record of on-time project completions across the globe.
