While India is signing various nuclear deals with foreign countries to fulfill the energy requirement, Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz says the Asian giant should explore use of alternative forms of energy to meet the growing need.
The American winner of Nobel in Economic Sciences in 2001, who was in Kolkata to attend functions, said on Friday, "India is growing strongly and its population as well. Reducing the need of power is necessary."
He added that carbon based energy sources have some very serious consequences and coal is a very cause of the global warming.
